Deserted Survivors and The [Workshop]. (砂漠の遭難者、そして『工房』。 Sabaku no Sounansha, soshite [Kōbō]?) is the second episode of the second season of In Another World With My Smartphone anime.
Plot[]
Riding on the Sky Garden of Babylon, Francesca navigates it above the desert lands of the Burning Kingdom of Sandora. On route to their destination, Leen gives an extensive explanation of its history to Touya, who sounded somewhat disinterested in it. Immediately, a Manta Phrase is spotted flying in the air, chasing after a group of slave girls and adventurers, and Touya decides to help them.
Amid their confrontation with the Manta Phrase, Ende appears before Touya and details that the Phrase was an Intermediate Class. After informing Touya of that fact, Ende teleports on top of the Manta Phrase and destroys it with a tap of his foot. Ende then explains that he defeated the Phrase by hitting it with magic attuned to its natural frequency. Touya then asks Ende about a world barrier, which he explains is a net that protects foreign objects from out of this world. Phrases are one of those things, and although a minion type, it still dutifully follows its goal of finding the Phrase's Sleeping King, which is also Ende's objective. With that, Ende teleports out of the scene.
Afterward, water is served for the people Touya's group rescued, and one of the adventurers introduces herself as Rebecca. She explains to Touya that the people with collars around their necks are enslavement collar that keep them from disobeying orders, and the only way to remove them is by their owner, who is dead. Rebecca's group aimed to figure out a way to remove the collars from the slaves somewhere, but the Manta Phrase ambushed them.
Hence, Touya uses his Apport Spell to remove the collars around the slaves' necks. Still, the slaves staying in Sandora posed a problem to them all because of their records, so it suggested they leave for another nation. Chiming in, Yumina offers the slaves to come to the Kingdom of Belfast as refugees and then introduces herself as the princess of Belfast. Using Touya's Gate Spell, back to the Belfast Mansion, where it's announced they'll be staying there until they can be appropriately relocated.
Before they continue searching for the Babylon ruins, Leen demands to know Touya's relationship with Ende. After Touya's explanation, Cesca recognizes the coin Ende gave him as one from Partheno. Leen reviews the facts related to Ende and claims he oozes suspicion. Touya then explains the information he received from Professor Regina. Further discussions related to the Phrases are discussed between the group. During said conversation, Cesca mentioned that the professor created pilotable robots she called Frame Gears capable of fighting against the Phrases. Cesca notes that the Gears were located in the Hangar of Babylon. Excited to learn about this, Touya hopes to find them and is then informed by Cesca that they've reached their destination.
On the ground below, Leen casts the Wind Magic Cyclone Storm to reveal the hidden ruins buried underneath the sand. Making contact with the barrier erected around the ruins, Touya passes through it and is led to a teleportation circle, where he uses it to be teleported to another garden. There he's greeted by another android by the name of High Rosetta, who informs him that he's at the Workshop of Babylon.
To prove that Touya is worthy of being the master of the workshop, Rosetta poses the challenge of guessing what color her panties are, and through trial and error, he answers correctly. Touya is then guided to where the workshop is and displays its purpose and functions by Rosetta. Using a lump of Mythril, Touya has Rosetta recreate his gun Brunhild, but is disappointed that it didn't copy its Program too. Touya then asks Rosetta about the Frame Gears she and the professor built there. However, she can't rebuild without their blueprints that are stored in the Storehouse of Babylon; the best she can do is recreate their weapons.
Later, Touya teleports everyone to the area, and Cesca debates with Rosetta over the importance of the other's job. Touya intervenes, asking to merge the workshop with the garden, and it's decided it'll be done in Belfast.
Back at the Belfast Mansion, Rebecca and her group bow to Touya after learning of his achievements from Cecile. However, Touya asks them to stop and then asks what the slaves can do. Rebecca asks if they could stay there, and Touya ponders what the slaves can all do as they can't fight and have no special abilities.
