The Chevalier (重騎士,Shubarie?) or FG-09 was the first Frame Gear to be mass-produced[2]. It is a grey colored Frame Gear based on the old design of the FG[2][3]. It is equipped with a sword as its default equipment[4]. Yae Kokonoe was the test-pilot for this Frame Gear[5]. This Frame Gear excels in defense and is easier than Knight Baron to manufacture [6].
Knight Baron
The Knight Baron (黒騎士,Naito Baron?), a commander type Frame Gear, was the next Frame Gear to be made. It is a black colored Frame Gear based on the old design of the FG, which is equipped with a mace and shield and is slightly larger than a Chevalier. It has large thorns on each of its shoulders and a single blade antenna (which Touya Mochizuki attached) on its forehead. According to High Rosetta, Knight Baron is 1.5 times stronger than the Chevalier. It has no flight capability, but possesses thrusters on its back and legs for deceleration. Touya was the Knight Baron’s test-pilot and the first to use it in battle, but it is most often used by Nikola Strand, the vice commander of the Brunhild Knight Order.[7][8][3] This Frame Gear excels in offense but is harder to manufacture compared to the Chevalier [6].
Shining Count
The Shining Count (白騎士,Shainkaunto?) is actually a Knight Baron with white painted armor. The Frame Gear is used by Lain Netherland, the commander of the Brunhild Knight Order. It also works as the flag bearer[9]
Blue Moon (青騎士,Burūmūn?) is actually a Knight Baron with blue painted armor. This Frame Gear is used by Norn Siberia, the vice commander of the Brunhild Knight Order.
Red Lynx (紅騎士,Reddorinkusu?) is actually a Knight Baron with red painted armor. This Frame Gear is used by Est Flotier, the vice commander of the Phantom Thief Group "Red Cat".
Dragoon
Dragoon (竜騎士,Doragūn?), is a red Frame Gear with a slim design. It has big wheels on the tip of both its heels, as well as thrusters on its back and both sides of the waist. It is the most agile Frame Gear, sacrificing defense and power and also difficult to control.[6] Because of its lack of power, it can not equip any heavy weapon[6] which is why it is equipped with two small swords (小太刀,kodachi?) made of phrasium (crystal material)[10]. This Frame Gear was given to Ende by Touya[10]. When Touya modified Ende’s Dragoon, he painted it black and white, in order to easily tell it apart from Elze Silhoueska's Gerhilde. Another Dragoon (albeit an old model Frame Gear) was also used by Lucia Rea Regulus before receiving her personal Frame Gear unit.[11]

Brunnhilde
Brunnhilde (ブリュンヒルデ,Buryunhirude?) is a Frame Gear dedicated to Yumina Ernea Belfast. Its main color is silver and it is a sniper specialized type unit. Brunnhilde is equipped with special silver armor which grants it stealthiness. Its primary weapons consist of a long-distance sniper rifle as well as four Fragarach units installed on its back.[12]
Gerhilde
Gerhilde (ゲルヒルデ,Geruhirude?) is a Frame Gear dedicated to Elze Silhoueska. Its main color is red and it is a hand-to-hand combat assault type unit[12]. Gerhilde is the first exclusive FG build by High Rosetta and Fred Monica. This Frame Gear excels power and speed and has sturdy limbs to support this [13]. Gerhilde is equipped with pile bunkers made of phrasium on both hands[14]. Likewise, its armor is coated with phrasium for endurance that reacts with Elze’s「Boost」(which shifts Gerhilde into high power mode), engulfing it in a magical flame, while also boosting its speed and power[15]. It is also able to combine with Linze's unit, Helmwige, to act as a aerial support unit.[16]
Ortlinde Overlord
Ortlinde (オルトリンデ,Orutorinde?) is a Frame Gear dedicated to Sushie Ernea Ortlinde. Its main color is gold and it is a fortified defense type unit[12]. It is a unit that is designed to combine with three additional support units that were specifically built for it (see Additional Equipment), with the combined unit known as the ”Ortlinde Overlord” (オルトリンデ・オーバーロード,Orutorinde Ōbārōdo?). It currently only has a rocket punch (Cannon Knuckle) as its weapon, though it later receives an upgrade that allows the launched fist to rotate at high speeds once launched (Cannon Knuckle Spiral). It also has the ability to create a powerful barrier known as a Stardust Shell by releasing countless star shaped lights from its left hand.
Waltraute
Waltraute (ヴァルトラウテ,Varutoraute?) is a Frame Gear dedicated to Lucia Rea Regulus. Its main color is green and it is a high-spec guerilla type unit[12]. It is designed with the ability to switch between different equipment types depending on the combat situation. This includes close range weapons, long range armaments, heavy weapons and high maneuverability gear. It is capable of transferring different equipment units from Babylon and itself and is shown to capable of doing this instantaneously. The known weapons units are as follows:
Unit A and B
Unit A (Attacker) - A unit that specializes in close range combat. It is equipped with four swords attached to its back and waist used for close quarters combat.[17]
Unit B (Booster) - A unit that specializes in high speed movement and maneuverability. It is equipped with multi directional thrusters that allow it to move and reposition itself with little effort.[17]
Unit C and D
Unit C (Caster) - A unit that specializes in long range combat. It is equipped with a large magic cannon located on it's shoulder that fires powerfully shot bullets at far off enemies.When using this unit it also deploys anchors located in it's heels to help steady itself when firing.[17]
Schwertleite
Schwertleite (シュヴェルトライテ,Shuverutoraite?) is a Frame Gear dedicated to Yae Kokonoe. Its main color is purple and it is a light melee-fighter type unit[12]. It is equipped with a long Japanese sword (大太刀,ōtachi?) and a short Japanese sword (脇差,wakizashi?) made of phrasium which are carried on its waist. It also has thrusters built in its legs and has 「Accel」 installed inside a magic power slot that instantaneously accelerates its movement to almost blinding speeds, allowing it to cut down its enemies with a single swipe with the swords.[18]
Helmwige
Helmwige (ヘルムヴィーゲ,Herumuwīge?) is a Frame Gear dedicated to Linze Silhoueska. Its main color is blue and it is a convertible aerial-combat type unit[12]. It has a large shield that becomes the bottom part of the aircraft once it transforms. Because the shield is a necessary part of the transformation, it has much more phrasium than other equipment, as well as more magic inserted into it, making it considerably more solid and durable. It is also equipped with a unknown numbers of guns that can be fired in its aerial form. allowing it to provide close-air support for other Frame Gears (it is unknown if these can be used in its normal form.)[19] It also has the ability to combine with Elze's unit, Gerhilde to act as a aerial support unit.[16] It is later equipped with a crystal sword and special crystal bullets designed to separate when fired. [20]
Siegrune
Siegrune (ジークルーネ,Jīkurūne?) is a Frame Gear dedicated to Hildegard Minas Lestia. Its main color is orange and it is a heavy melee-fighter type unit[12]. It is equipped with a wide longsword and a large shield as well as a mace on its back. The defensive abilities of this FG are much higher than Yae's Frame Gear. The part of its body that looks like a dorsal fin can transform into a massive greatsword and can be used when opposing the advanced class Phrase. The shield can also transform into a spiral cone. Furthermore, the shield also can transform into a spiral lance when the mace is attached to it. The lance's tip allows it to smash its enemies into pieces.[18]
Grimgerde
Grimgerde (グリムゲルデ,Gurimugerude?) is a Frame Gear dedicated to Leen. Its main color is black and it is a heavy duty bombardier type unit[12]. It is equipped with a large Gatling gun, capable of firing hundreds of bullets in matter of seconds, on its right arm , while the left arm is capable of firing bullets from its fingertips. By opening the armor on its chest, it can release another pair of Gatling guns that can fire at the same rate as the one equipped on its right arm. It is also equipped with head mounted Vulcan cannons and missile pods located in both its shoulders and its legs. It does not carry its ammo supply within its body but rather loads/reloads from a separate supply via 【Apport】. Its main purpose is heavy bombardment, artillery support and anti-air suppression. The unit cannot consecutively fire its armaments as it is required to enter a "cooling mode" after firing a full power volley for several minutes. Another disadvantage is that the unit draws a considerable amount of magic from the user, causing intense fatigue if used for extended periods.[16] Aside from the chest Gatling guns for a surprise attack, Grimgerde lacks close-quarters/melee combat weapons. As a result, it requires support from other Frame Gears for defense during its cool-down period and against enemies that get too close.
Rossweisse
Rossweisse (ロスヴァイセ,Rosuwaise?) is a Frame Gear dedicated to Sakura. Its main color is pink (almost white) and it is a mass-fight support type unit[12]. It possesses two large trumpet-like horns that extend from its back and rest on its shoulders, which amplify Sakura's voice or any other sound waves. It is able to retract these horns so its movement is not impeded

Reginleif
Reginleif (behind)
Reginleif (レギンレイヴ,Reginreivu?) is a Frame Gear dedicated to Touya Mochizuki. An universal diversified type unit. The body of Reginleif is made of colorless phrasium with golden line details. It is equipped with broadswords which are placed on both sides of its waist.[21] Reginleif is equipped with 12 Fragarach resembling wings on its back, which can be transformed into various weapons using 「Program: Modeling」 to fit the battle condition[21][22]. It is the culmination of all the data and constant upgrades implemented and acquired from all the previous FG created for the purpose to create one able to resist Touya's magic. Unlike other FG, Reginleif channels Touya's magic directly through its body, and, to protect the integrity of the frame from magical power pressure, it will forcibly shut down the system after exceeding the predetermined magical power limit, and will only be operational only after finishing its cooling time, which takes a few minutes.[22] Additionally, it has the capability to fly[23].

Over Gears[]
The Over Gears (オーバーギア,Ōbāgia?) are a unique type of Frame Gear built by Dr. Babylon and Elluka Patolakshe, based on Gollem technology. They are designed to be ridden by both a Gollem and its master in order to utilize the former's special abilities, and are effectively power suits for the Gollems much like how a frame gear is for humans. They are, however, very uncomfortable to ride. Like the Valkyrie Gears, the Over Gears cannot be mass-produced.

Leo Noir (レオノワール,Reonowāru?) is an Over Gear dedicated to Norn Patolakshe and her Gollem Chronos Noir. As its name implies, it takes the form of a massive black and golden lion. It is a highly maneuverable unit, and can deploy a magical force field around itself, allowing it to act as a battering ram. Its only armaments are claws and fangs made of pure phrasium, which allow it to destroy even intermediate class mutants. However, due to the risks of Noir's ability, it cannot be utilized within the Leo Noir.
Tiger Rouge (ティガルージュ,Tigarūju?) is an Over Gear dedicated to Nia Belmott and her Gollem Blood Rouge. As its name implies, it takes the form of a massive crimson and silver tiger. As opposed to the Leo Noir, it is much sturdier, suiting Nia's wild nature. It is also possible for a Frame Gear to mount the Tiger Rouge. Its only armaments are claws and fangs made of pure phrasium, which allow it to destroy even intermediate class mutants. However, due to the risks of Rouge's ability, it cannot be utilized within the Tiger Rouge.
Deer Blau (ディアブラウ,Diaburau?) is an Over Gear dedicated to Robert Tell Panaches and his Gollem Distortion Blau. As its name implies, it takes the form of a massive blue deer[24]. As opposed to the Leo Noir and Tiger Rouge, the Deer Blau is a defensive unit. It possesses huge horns that can project magical barriers it can use to guard the surrounding area. The horns can also be used to charge at enemies. However, due to the risks of Blau's ability, it cannot be utilized within the Deer Blau.
Whale Albus
Whale Albus (ヴァールアルブス,Vāruarubusu?) is an Over Gear dedicated to Yumina Ernea Belfast and her Gollem Illuminati Albus. As its name implies, it takes the form of a massive white whale.
Additional Equipment[]
Fragarach (飛操剣,Furagarahha?) is a range offensive system which is first implemented on Knight Baron[25]. Its technology is based on the defensive system of the Rampart, the Satellite Orb[26]. The Fragarach is a sword made of phrasium and because of the nature of the system, only pilot with magic aptitude and high magical power is able to use it[26]. Due to the limitation of the old frames, each Knight Baron is only equipped with 4 Fragarach, which are installed on its back in an X shape[26][25]. Each Fragarach is able to move separately in supersonic speed and automatically comeback to surround the Frame Gear[27].
Gungnir (グングニル,Gunguniru?): A high speed flying boat that is piloted by Francesca and forms the upper armor of Sue's Ortlinde Overlord FG.
Laevateinn (レーヴァテイン,Rēvatein?): An high speed armored bullet train that is piloted by High Rosetta and forms the arms of Sue's Ortlinde Overlord FG.
Mjollnir (ミョルニル,Myoruniru?): An all-purpose underground tank that is piloted by Fredmonica and forms the lower legs of Sue's Ortlinde Overlord FG.
Brionac (ブリューナク,Buryūnaku?):A giant magic gun that was created by Regina Babylon. It is designed to fire a powerful magic bullet at the enemy that is capable of destroying even a Advanced Class Phrase in one shot. It is equipped a large anchor shaped like a talon that is used to withstand the recoil that is produced. The barrel of the gun is three times larger then a regular Frame Gear, and has special pre-programmed magic that causes the bullet to rotate once it is fired.[28]
Flight Gear (フライトギア,Furaitogia?): A disc-like device with wings that clips to the bottom of a Frame Gear's feet and allows them to fly. The wings can fold up so it can be used as a shield, which is reinforced with phrasium. Unfortunately, it drains magic rapidly, and can only be used with Chevaliers and Knight Barons.
The Valkyrie Gears are named so because they are named after the nine valkyries which appear in Richard Wagner's opera "Der Ring des Nibelungen"
The model to not use Nordic naming is the Chevalier; "Chevalier" is French for "knight".
Likewise, all components of the additional equipment are named after divine artifacts from Norse and Irish Mythology
The Fragarach and Brionac are named after the sword and spear of the Irish god Lugh, respectively.
Gungnir is named after the spear of the Norse god Odin.
Laevateinn is named after the sword of the Norse god Loki.
Mjollnir is named after the hammer of the Norse god Thor.
When discussing the Frame Gears, Touya makes many references to mecha from other anime
Touya wonders that the Knight Baron would become twice as strong if it was painted red. That, along with the attached horn, is a joke about the Zaku II Commander type (the most notable of which is red), which is three times as powerful as the Zaku. He also makes a joke about Ende returning with a mask, an homage to Char Aznable, the helmeted pilot of said unit.
Touya also thinks that the new paint scheme of the Dragoon reminds him of Patlabor
When parts from a chevalier are stolen to make the Steel Battalion, Touya references Getter Robo, when Musashi Tomoe blows up his mecha to save his friends.
The Ortlinde Overlord is very obviously based on GaoGaiGar, and it is heavily implied that Sue herself asked for such a design after watching the titular TV show. Both mecha feature a golden unit with a beast head on its chest as the core (Ortlinde itself and GaiGar), and combine with similar vehicles: A flying vehicle (Gungnir and StealthGao), train (Laevateinn and LinerGao), and tank (Mjollnir and DrillGao). Both also possess rotating fists, one of which can be launched at the opponent (Cannon Knuckle / Cannon Knuckle Spiral and Broken Magnum), while the other can create a shield of light (Stardust Shell and Protect Shade). Finally, Sue requested that the Ortlinde Overlord's final weapon be a giant golden hammer. This is a reference to the GaoGaiGar's final weapon, the insanely powerful and huge Goldion Hammer.
On the other hand, Waltraute is very similar to the GAT-X105 Strike Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. Like Waltraute, the Strike Gundam is an extremely versatile unit, since it has specialized auxiliary units known as Striker Packs, which perform similar functions to those of Waltraute's packs. They both have an Close-range attack-based unit in the form of a sword stored on their respective unit's back (Attacker and Sword Striker), one focused on speed and maneuverability which attaches to the unit's back, (Booster and Aile Striker), and a long-range attack-based unit featuring a shoulder cannon (Caster and Launcher Striker).
Leen's Grimgerde was likely inspired by the heavy artillery mobile suits such as the XXXG-01H Gundam Heavyarms from Gundam Wing or the GT-9600 Gundam Leopard from After War Gundam X. Its main purpose is heavy assault and long-range support.
The Over Gears were most likely inspired by the mecha of the Zoids franchise. Many of the Zoids used by the protagonists of these franchises are based on ligers, combinations of tigers and lions.
