Jubei Kokonoe (九重 (ここのえ) 重兵衛 (じゅうべえ) , Kokonoe Jūbee^?) is the father of Yae and Jutaro. He is also the husband of Nanae.

All of the Kokonoe family’s names feature the kanji 重 in their first name (and family name). His first name, Jubei (重兵衛), is written by adding -bei (an old Japanese name suffix) to the kanji 重.
