- Kousaka Masanobu is based on a real life samurai warrior from the Sengoku Period, Kōsaka Masanobu.
- His name is written as 高坂政信 which is different from his real life counterpart, 高坂昌信, while still having the same reading.
- In the official English light novel, he is known as Kousaka Masanohbu.
- While Kousaka is described as being at least sixty in the Light Novels, his real life counterpart died in his early fifties
- Kousaka has worked as retainer to the noble Takeda lienage, who were groomed from birth to be leaders; which is why he has expectations for how Touya to act as ruler. This backfires constantly for the simple fact that Touya was originally a commoner and thus has little regard for noble decorum unless it's for diplomatic reasons.
