Lyon is a gallant young man with a good head on his shoulders. Although he is part of a prominent family of nobles, he does not discriminate against non-humans, even marrying one. He also believes that warriors should be decided by merit, as he punished a group of young knights who taunted Touya, despite them being from noble families.
