Mr. Mittens (ニャンタロー Nyantarō?), called Nyantarou in Japan, is a cat sìth and contracted cat beast of Sakura[1]. His real name is D'Artagnan (ダルタニャン Darutanyan?). However, everybody (with a few exceptions, like Fiana) calls him by his "nickname", much to his chagrin
Appearance[]
Mr. Mittens is an anthropomorphic black cat wearing a hat with a long feather, gloves, a mantle, a belt with a sheath, and long boots. He also wields a rapier as his weapon.[2]
Personality[]
Mr. Mittens is insistent that everybody call him by his real name, but nobody ever listens to him. He makes many cat puns when speaking, which Touya absolutely hates. It is later revealed that he does it unconsciously, and these puns become slightly less common.
Despite these facts, Mr. Mittens displays loyalty to Brunhild (where he works directly under Kohaku), and is shown to be a very good leader, seen when he leads the cat patrol in town.
History[]
Relationships[]
Sakura[]
Mr. Mittens is loyal to Sakura firstly. He obeys her commands without question. Particularly, she once ordered him to break the Overlord's legs should he bother her and her mother at the school.
Abilities[]
Mr. Mittens can communicate with cats, which he uses to create a surveillance system with all the domesticated and stray cats in the Brunhild Dukedom. Later, Touya summons three more cat knights named Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, who work with Mr. Mittens.
Quote[]
"It's D'Artagnan!" - Whenever someone (usually Touya) calls him "Mr. Mittens"
Trivia[]
- Mr. Mittens is probably based on the fairy tale and animated cartoon with the same name, Puss in Boots.
- His real name D'Artagnan, is the name of the protagonist of The Three Musketeers. This corresponds with the names of the other cat knights, who are named after the musketeers themselves.
- Befitting his nature as a cat, Mr. Mittens considers the school where he watches over Fiana to be his territory.
